Senior Adults or the chronologically gifted! We follow the command of God honoring those who paved the way for us and brought our generations up in the faith. They spent their lives modeling Jesus for us and now we can honor them by giving them the chance to continue showing people the ways of the Savior. How can we offer this? Listed below are a few of the ways.

Intergenerational Council - The Intergenerational Council meets the third Tuesday of each month and is the policy making part of the Older Adult Ministry along with being the advocate for the concerns of Seniors. This council is also concerned with providing intergenerational opportunities for the whole church. The council is currently working on providing a regular seminar series on Wednesday afternoons, sharing their experiences in a Wednesday night class setting and the exciting new ministry of providing a video service each week at retirement homes.

Thursday Bible Study - Join us each Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Truluck Room (room 108) for a weekly Bible study on the sermon scripture to be delivered on Sunday. Retired United Methodist minister, Rev. Bob Hall, is the leader. Lunch is enjoyed together after the study concludes. This Bible Study class concludes with a picnic in May at which all seniors at the church are invited. The class is discontinued in the summer and resumes in September.

Fellowship Club - The Fellowship Club meets the third Tuesday of every month (except for the summer) at 11:00 AM in the FAB Dinning Room. We have devotionals, recognize visitors and birthdays, talk about upcoming trips and events and have a special guest speaker or performer. Lunch is served at the conclusion of the program.

Senior Seminars - The Older Adult Council offers senior seminars one Wednesday afternoon every two months. The seminars begin at 3:30 PM and end in time for everyone to enjoy the Wednesday evening food and programs. Some of the past seminar topics have been: The new Medicare, the architecture of Maryland and of colonial Virginia, wills and estates, etc. Be on the lookout for the next seminar coming your way!

Fitness - You don't want to rust! BSUMC has two fitness classes led by class members. The classes, stressing balance and flexibility, are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. One class is offered at 9:15 AM and the other is offered at 1:15 PM.  The classes meet throughout the year.

Older Adult Retreat - Every February, we join other older adults from across the state for our 3 day beach retreat in Myrtle Beach. Sometimes we even show up a day or two early to enjoy the local shows.  Dates are posted every year!

Older Adult Mission Event - We support and send folks to the Conference mission event for Older Adults. It happens every April and you can get the current info by checking your newsletter.
