Volunteer

Volunteer

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Buncombe Street UMC and are who keep the church alive and prosperous. Ways to serve can be determined by one’s current interests. You may like to sing, or work with children. You may like working with flowers or visiting the sick. All of these are great and the church wants to help you find ways to volunteer your time. Complete the form to the right indicating your area of interest and someone from the church office will contact you.

If you aren’t certain what areas you may want to volunteer, or if you are looking for new ways to share your talents, a spiritual gifts survey can be a great tool to understand your God-given uniqueness. BSUMC has designed such a tool that is easy to use. There are no tricks and there are no wrong answers. The survey consists of 80 statements. Some of the statements reflect concrete actions while others are descriptive traits. Still others are statements of belief.

Throughout the survey you should know that:

  • You select only one response for what you feel best characterizes yourself. Once determined, you will place that number in the blank provided thus recording your answer in the blank beside each item.
  • You are encouraged to not spend too much time on any one item. Remember, this is not a test. Most often your immediate response is the best response.
  • Give an answer for each item. Do not skip any items. Since this is your survey do not ask others how they are answering or how they think you should answer.
  • Work at your own pace.
  • Volunteering is important at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church. As the church has dedicated time and resources to make this survey available, we request that you register in order to complete the survey. As you learn what your spiritual gifts are it is the church’s desire that the Holy Spirit’s work within you be alive and growing. Getting involved within the church is vital to your Christian growth.
